Services We Offer

Services from a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired (TVI/CTVI)

We are committed to meeting the unique educational needs of children with visual impairments, blindness, and children with visual & multiple impairments as well as provide techniques for instruction related to teaching these children in a full array of educational settings from birth-22. We have California Department of Education Certified Teachers of the Visually Impaired who provide direct and/or consult services to students who are blind or visually impaired. Our services are based on the needs of each student, as determined by assessment. Direct services might include braille instruction, training in the use of braille note taking devices, services and supports in the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), and training for the students and staff on the utilization of assistive technology. Students qualify for services from a TVI when their assessments show that vision is impacting the ability to access the curriculum based on the results of a Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessment (FVALMA). *Schools utilizing Welligent may call these services Blind/Partially Sighted

Orientation and Mobility (O&M Specialists/COMS)

We have California Department of Education Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists who are able to work with students who are blind or visually impaired on a variety of skills that encompass safe and effective travel needs across home, school, and community settings and with an ultimate goal of independence for the student. Orientation and Mobility service is typically provided as a direct service to students and services are completed in a variety of locations off of a school campus, depending on the student’s individual needs, as shown in an Orientation & Mobility Assessment.
